Torge Thönnessen has been working for the Fraunhofer Institute of Silicon Technology (ISIT) since 2010. As director and scientist of the new technology center for battery technologies, he has played a major role in setting-up and developing electrode formulations and cell assembly processes. As head of the Electrode Foil Manufacturing Division of X-FAB MEMS Foundry GmbH, Torge has been developing and enhancing production and business processes for electrode foil manufacturing since 2011. Since 2012 Torge took over the position of managing director of Custom Cells Itzehoe GmbH in north Germany. Custom Cells produces electrode foils, rechargeable accumulators and battery systems for specialty markets. Custom Cells also provides intermediate products for battery production and supports R&D institutes with test and reference materials. Studying chemistry in Marburg (Germany) and Lund (Sweden) and specializing in macromolecular chemistry is giving Torge the core competence to convert customer needs into battery chemistry. Torge is living in Hamburg.
